John Madden, founder of Goal Line Studios ORIGIN

The idea was born on the Madden Cruiser, Joe Madden riding the road with his father, Hall of Fame coach John Madden, talking about building a television production home of their own. John was famously afraid to fly; he used the Cruiser to get everywhere. In the early 1990s, he and Joe built Goal Line in Pleasanton, California, where John could record his commercials and his voiceover work for the Madden NFL franchise without leaving home. By 1998, Game Developer magazine called it “one of the best facilities in the Bay Area.”

TODAY

In March 2023, Joe, now CEO, renovated and transformed the studio into its current 7,832-square-foot state and installed the 106-foot J-curved LED XR volume. The same walls. Now rebuilt for the next thirty years of media. Goal Line Studios is the largest full-service sound stage in Northern California, and the PAC-12’s exclusive home for football and basketball studio shows through 2031.

Joe Madden, Co-Founder & CEO at Goal Line Playbook
01 · Founder
Joe Madden
Co-Founder & CEO
Joe Madden has lived in and around media his entire life, and Goal Line Studios is what happens when a legendary pedigree meets relentless execution.

Joe built Goal Line Studios from the ground up: a $25M world-class production facility anchored by Northern California's largest LED volume and a full post-production pipeline. He's already put $250,000 of his own capital into digitizing legacy sports content and hired multiple full-time specialists to build the foundation of GLP, proving the model before asking anyone else to back it.

As CEO of Goal Line Playbook, Joe is building the definitive vertically integrated sports media platform, spanning production, distribution, monetization, athlete development, and community engagement. He didn't wait for permission. He built the infrastructure first, so the opportunity would be undeniable.

Seven years leading marketing and PR strategy at Nacelle Company and Comedy Dynamics, where Brian drove campaigns for Netflix's “The Toys That Made Us,” Disney's “Behind The Attraction,” “The Movies That Made Us,” and multiple original series and documentary properties. He built influencer and media relationships that amplified content across traditional press, social platforms, and YouTube, and managed paid and organic campaigns from concept to execution for brands, including partnerships with Walmart.

At Goal Line Playbook, Brian is the revenue architect behind the company's content monetization model. His expertise is turning a single piece of content into multiple income streams, highlight reels, podcast episodes, short-form social clips, and sponsored segments, each generating independent revenue. He knows what content earns, what content burns, and how to build the strategy that maximizes both reach and return at scale.
Ben Gilliland, SVP, Audience Development & Digital Strategy at Goal Line Playbook
04 · Executive
Ben Gilliland

At Goal Line Playbook, Ben is the engine that transforms passive viewers into an active, engaged community. His specialties are database curation, newsletter strategy, and community engagement pipelines, and he builds direct relationships with fans, alumni, and sponsors through GLP-owned media channels. 08 · Executive
Jeremy Olsen
SVP, Streaming & Channel Programming
Jeremy operates at the intersection of streaming distribution and advertising economics. He knows what content gets watched, what gets skipped, and what commands premium sponsorship rates, and he programs accordingly. His approach is surgical: scheduling and content packaging optimized for FAST channels like Pluto TV, Tubi, The Roku Channel, and Samsung TV+ to drive the highest possible ad rates and sponsorship close rates.

At Goal Line Playbook, Jeremy ensures that every piece of content, whether restored archive footage or original programming, is programmed into the right channel, at the right time, in the right format to maximize both viewership and revenue. He doesn't guess what works. He programs what sells.
